Mind The Gap Nights 2015 is the third in the series of late-night symbioses between IFFR and Gonzo (circus) magazine, held in Rotterdam’s WORM venue and featuring unique collaborations between musicians, video artists and filmmakers. And every day featuring a Gonzo DJ in the café.

Thursday 22nd January
Bruce McClure & Alex Mendizabal + Stray Dogs
Featuring artist in focus Bruce McClure with new audiovisual work, Alex Mendizabal presents a banging noise-set, Flemish improvisation duo Stray Dogs with layered music at the intersection of ritual drumming, industrial noise and dub.

Friday 23rd January
Telcosystems + Sally Golding + Markus Mehr & Stefanie Sixt
Dutch trio Telcosystems present their latest work Shutter: two projectors, digital and analogue images, Australian-British visual artist Sally Golding presents ‘expanded cinema’ set in three parts (Un-Time; Light at the End of the Tunnel; Ghost – Loud + Strong), German audio artist Markus Mehr and video artist Stefanie Sixt combine digital and earthly sounds with abstract, poetic images.

Saturday 24th January
Bas van Koolwijk & Onno Govaert + Rainer Kohlberger + Oiseaux Tempête, Gareth Davis & Karel Doing + Lowriders Collective
In a live improvisation set Bas van Koolwijk’s images and electronics are whipped up by the percussion of Onno Govaert, Berlin-resident audiovisual artist Rainer Kohlberger creates visual music during live cinema performances, French instrumental free rock trio Oiseaux Tempête (Frédéric D. Oberland, Stéphane Pigneul, Ben Mc Connell) perform with bass clarinettist Gareth Davis and Dutch filmmaker Karel Doing, Lowriders Recordings from Rotterdam provide deep grime, beats and electronic bass sounds.

Sunday 25th January
Martijn van Boven & Gert-Jan Prins + Karl Lemieux & Michaela Grill & Phillip Jeck + Karaoke
Dutch duo Martijn van Boven (film/video) and Gert-Jan Prins (audio) present Black Smoking Mirror, Canadian filmmaker Karl Lemieux, Austrian video artist Michaela Grill and British turntable wizard Philip Jeck mix analogue and digital images and sound, and Karaoke (Art) – a bizarre coming together of contemporary video art and the (in)famous sing-along phenomenon.
